Long ago when everybody could see the wind, there lived a small Baby Wind with his Mother and Father Wind, high up in the sky palace where the moon, sun and clouds also lived. Father wind would be out all day, blowing the clouds in all directions and Mother wind would blow around keeping everyone cosy in their houses (after locking baby wind in the Sky Palace).
The Baby Wind always wished to fly out into the wide wide world, but Mother Wind always carefully locked the sky Palace. Luckily (for Baby Wind )one day Mother Wind had to go for an important meeting and forgot to lock the sky Palace. Baby Wind thought, “Oh! There is nothing to stop me today. I shall fulfill my wish of roaming the world. Only one day and no more. Surely Mummy won’t get angry.” So thinking he crept out of the palace and began drifting toward a kite.
But little did the baby wind know what was in store for him, because this kite belonged to a naughty boy. On seeing the wind rushing towards his kite, he quickly pulled it down, resulting in the wind dashing against a rock and having to rub a sore head. He glanced angrily at the boy and sped away.
Then he saw a ladder. A small boy was climbing on it. Suddenly the boy lost his balance and tumbled down. The baby wind swiftly flew under him but he lost his own balance and in the end the boy landed softly on the baby wind but the baby wind went away with a broken back.
As it flew on It saw a huge boulder on a mountain. At the foot of the mountain there was a large pit. The baby wind decided to cover the pit with the boulder. He heaved and sighed and pushed for all he was worth but when he was drained of all his energy he slipped off the cliff and rolled down and ended up in the pit with a broken arm.
By now the baby wind was in a sorry state: A sore head, a broken back and broken arms. He felt so ashamed and sad to be in this state that he decided never to reveal himself again. Even when anybody heard a sound of, “Help!” from the pit they never paid much attention to it because they couldn’t see anything. But don’t lose hope for if you are a determined person then look carefully when the wind passes by; who knows you might just catch a glimpse of the tearful baby wind.
