Welcome to Trick or Tale, a two-day spooky story writing workshop for kids aged 8 to 14, happening online on 1st and 2nd November, from 5 PM to 7 PM.
👻 Why Scary Stories?
Children are naturally curious. They love the thrill of the unknown — the rustle behind the curtain, the flickering light, the whisper of what if?
Scary stories give them a safe space to explore those feelings through creativity. Writing a spooky story helps children:
- Build imagination by creating mysterious characters and places
- Strengthen their writing and storytelling skills
- Learn to express emotions — fear, courage, excitement — through words
- Gain confidence as they share their ideas aloud
And the best part? They discover that “scary” doesn’t have to mean frightening — it can be funny, magical, or simply mysterious!
🕯️ What Happens in Trick or Tale?
Over two evenings filled with games, laughter, and storytelling, children will:
✨ Learn the Secrets of Suspense
How to make readers curious using description, rhythm, and pacing.
🧙 Create Monsters and Mysteries
From shy ghosts to silly skeletons — they’ll invent their own spooky characters.
🌫️ Build Eerie Settings
They’ll learn how to use the five senses to describe a place that gives readers goosebumps.
✍️ Write Their Own Scary Story
With guided prompts and support, they’ll plan and write an original short story with a twist ending.
🎭 Share Their Story in the “Story Circle”
On the second day, participants will read their stories aloud — in their best spooky voices!
Every child will receive a “Certified Scare Writer” certificate to celebrate their creativity.
