Why should children learn to write stories ?

Children are born story tellers. Their imagination knows no bounds. Unfortunately , our education system gives more value to Science and Maths and story telling is relegated a 15 marks in the English Paper.

However, learning to tell stories is a skill that helps in many ways:

• Writing helps us express our feelings and words
• The act of creating something is a great source of pleasure and adds to your child’s confidence.
• Writing helps your child develop and explore her imagination and creativity.
• It’s also a great way to deal with stress. It helps to let off steam.
• It also helps them develop communication skills which is something that stands them in good stead even as adults
